There are many courses to choose from, including a new 18 hole course just 10 minutes away or play a round at Pau 1859 the oldest club in continental Europe.


The area is a cyclist's paradise from gentle rides along the valleys through pretty villages to the challenging cols, many of which feature each year on the world famous ‘Tour de France’.

Motor Racing

In May each year Pau becomes a mini Monaco with its Grand Prix and Grand Prix Historique the following weekend

Walking and Hiking

Whether you prefer a gentle stroll or to tackle one of the more challenging GR routes, the scenery will reward you


Our crystal clear rivers are home to salmon and trout while coarse fishermen are not forgotten


According to the season you can choose to ride through vineyards and woods or in summer high up in the stunning mountain pastures.

Horse lovers should visit The ‘Haras National de Pau-Gelos’ is a national stud farm that specialises in sport horses such as the Anglo-Arab and local breeds like the Mérens and the sturdy Basque pony – the pottock.

Three Day eventing

One of only 6 4* events world wide is held in October each year in Pau.

Horse Racing

With wonderful facilities and races on the flat, over hurdles and fences plus cross country, an afternoon at the races in Pau is highly recommended.

Rock Climbing

The area boasts over twenty cliffs for climbing, suitable for all abilities,within the 3 valleys of Ossau, Aspe and Barétous.  While Oloron Saint0Marie is home to one of the highest indoor climbing gyms in southwestern France.


A good choice of courts locally, including on in the village and three at Navarrenx.  Oloron tennis club boasts eight open air with a choice of surfaces and three indoor courts.

Winter Sports

Our closest ski field offering Alpine and Nordic skiing, snow shoeing and dog sledding is less than an hour away.

Canoeing and Kayaking

Enjoy the tranquillity of a clear mountain lake from your canoe


Available to anyone who can swim 25m with qualified staff. On your return there are showers and a picnic area to enjoy.

Parachute Jumping

Strictly for any adrenalin junkies - if you have no experience try a tandem jump with a pro.


Still exciting but safely on terra firma.

Paint Balling

Take to the countryside and test the speed of your reflexes.

Hot-Air Ballooning

Viewing the scenery of the region from a hot air balloon is an absolute delight as you float gently over lovely forests, mountains and rivers.
